Chalk Talk: How to Help a Classroom Teacher
Teachers have many different jobs that make up their days and take away from the time they could be teaching. Parents can help out in many ways besides chaperoning field trips. Things such as sharpening pencils, filing papers, organizing the classroom library or making copies help teachers save time. Parents also can help by working with small groups in reading or in math, by helping students with sight words, spelling words or math facts. This significantly increases the attention students receive and makes an impact on student teacher ratio. An additional benefit of helping in the classroom is a parent can stay on top of their child’s learning expectations and activities.
