Chalk Talk: The Importance of Nurturing the Arts

While math and science play a fundamentally critical role in today's world helping us decipher logic, problem solving and test important experiments, the arts should not be overlooked. A child that is taught to nurture and respect the arts as much as math and science will develop a more well-rounded education. Moreover, that child will be able to approach life with the "whole brain" using his or her spatial and logical reasoning while also tapping into fine skills such as intuition, creative thinking and "thinking outside the box." Helping children develop skills such as creative writing may help bring out their personality and imagination, while allowing them to dream and visualize their goals. Getting a child involved in arts can mean anything from drama, music, literature, poetry writing to dance.
