Good public speakers are confident in their abilities, which is an important trait to have when undertaking any project, be it a research paper for English class or when taking the field with a sports team. Public speakers are also articulate, with an ability to explain themselves effectively. Being able to communicate one’s point of view is important not just for academic studies, but for the purposes of one’s career as well. There are also social benefits of being an effective speaker. Studies show that individuals who speak publicly are more comfortable in one-on-one situations. Being comfortable around others lends itself to the formation of strong relationships, be they social in nature or business related.
