Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Benicia District Curriculum
The topics that students will learn about in math are number operations, probability and statistics, algebra, and geometry. The principles and foundational scientific skills used in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and technology are explained through the science curriculum. In the subject of Language Arts, students read non-fiction and literary texts, write informational texts, and develop their communication techniques.
As students progress through their school years, the curriculum builds upon their prior years's knowledge. By doing this, students use reflective thinking that helps to promote analysis, interpretation, creative problem-solving and other higher order thinking skills.
