Berwick District and Curriculum
The Berwick Area School District celebrates diversity and strives for student success in all of their schools. Students who require it are provided with special helps and aids especially for English Language Learners, Gifted students, and Special Education students. These students have a plan written up that is designed specific to their individual needs and learning requirements. These are then followed through regular and special classes required to accomplish them.
We currently cover the following Berwick-area school district: Berwick Area School District.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Berwick District Curriculum
Students in elementary grades start by learning the foundational subjects of writing, reading and math. They also are introduced to science and history as well as physical education, health, music, art and technology education. With this foundation in the English language and numbers, students are equipped with the tools they need to learn in their other classes. Students have library classes to teach them about the use of technology and information in finding what is needed.
Middle and high school students build on their elementary foundation. They not only have opportunities to take more specialized classes, but they also can take varying levels of classes such as Honors and college prep classes. Students are taught about government processes, history, world languages and cultures, technology and its uses, health and wellness, and many other topics that are relevant to their lives. Students are encouraged to identify and pursue a vocation or career and are provided various electives and after school activities which may help them in these pursuits.

Chalk Talk: How to Get Enough Sleep in High School
So you’re in high school, pulling long hours on homework. You have a part time job on the weekends and love that extracurricular activity you’re involved in. But you’re tired. Every day when the alarm goes off, it’s all you can do not to press snooze…three times in a row. Now you’re worried you might not even hear your alarm clock go off. But what can you do? In the world of sleep, there are many things you can do to help your body get the sleep you need. While it may be true that your body naturally would rather go to bed later and sleep later, if your schedule doesn’t allow for this you can encourage your body to sleep a bit earlier. Give your body clues that it’s time to go to bed. Low light, no TV, computer screen, or phone screen light will help. Doing a calming activity before bed such as reading a book may help (especially if it’s the boring text book you’ve been putting off).
