Boca Raton District and Curriculum
The School District of Palm Beach County’s Reading curriculum for grades K-5 teaches students phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The Writing curriculum helps students grasp focus, organization, support, conventions, fluency, and stamina. In grades 6-12, students master reading literature, informational texts, science/technical texts, and social studies/history texts. For Writing, students begin to further comprehend pronouns, expressions, punctuation, style, tone, modifiers, phrases, clauses, voice, and parallel structure.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Boca Raton District Curriculum
Students studying K-5 Science will learn about the practice of science, properties of matter, changes in matter, forms of energy, motion of objects, forces and changes in motion, processes that shape the earth, and the earth and space.
The curriculum for grades 6-8 covers the practice of science; the characteristics of scientific knowledge; the role of theories, laws, hypotheses, and models; earth structures; earth systems and patterns; energy transfer and transformations; motion of objects; forces and changes in motion; organization and development of living organisms; diversity and evolution of living organisms; science and society; earth in space and time; properties of matter; and changes in matter. In grades 9-12, students study life science, physical science, earth and space science, and the nature of science and technology in greater detail.

Tell your child that you will always love him or her no matter what kind of successes or failures he or she might have. Always take time to listen to your child, especially about school. School has become one of the biggest parts of his or her life; share the experience.
