Having strong self-confidence makes kids more successful in academic circles. To build your childs' self-confidence, respond to needs promptly and validate his or her needs. Try to react to their actions in positive ways, even when the behavior is inappropriate. Take time to have fun with your student. Give your child an identity by using his or her name; label personal belongings with his or her name as well. Encourage your child in areas in which he or she excels; this will give him or her confidence to try new things. Tell your child that you will always love him or her no matter what kind of successes or failures he or she might have. Always take time to listen to your child, especially about school. School has become one of the biggest parts of his or her life; share the experience.
