Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Brea District Curriculum
The Language Arts curriculum covers reading of fiction and non-fiction, writing for a range of purposes, speaking, and listening skills. The Math curriculum lays out the areas of numerical operations, geometry and measurement, algebra, statistics and probability that students will learn about each year. The Science curriculum provides a framework for earth and life sciences, chemistry, physics, environmental science, engineering, and technology subjects.
The curriculum is based around standards of knowledge that students will work through yearly, this gives them the chance to develop higher order, critical thinking and problem solving skills. For students who enter into specialized programs or academies, the curriculum will also be infused with subject matter that is the focus of the program.
