Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Breaux Bridge District Curriculum
The public schools in the St. Martin Parish School District follow the state mandated Common Core Standards. Common Core provides set expectations for curriculum particularly in the area of Mathematics and English and Language Arts. In Mathematics, students focus in on becoming fluent in core math subjects including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and proportional reasoning. Students are encouraged to apply what they have learned to solve new problems.
In English and Language Arts, students learn to read and write and speak in correct English. Students learn to write informational evidence based assignments in addition to creative writing. Reading material includes both great literature and informational text and students are taught how to read for information and evidence. Skills such as critical analysis and research are emphasized. Standards for English literacy are used in all academic and technology courses so that students have broad critical reading skills.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Sphinx Kids is a website about classical music and contributions made by minorities to the world of music in this country. Students can click on interactive games to learn about instruments, rhythm, composers, and orchestras. There are match games such as one where you match instruments to sounds, and an interactive activity where students can create their own virtual rhythm band. The site also contains a gallery of minority composers which provides access to information about each composer, photos and listening opportunities to hear a tidbit of music from each composer. Sphinx Kids was created by Sphinx Organization with assistance from the New York Philharmonic. The Sphinx Organization is dedicated to bringing classical music to schools on a nationwide basis.
