Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Bristol District Curriculum

Bristol Borough School District focuses much attention to providing students with the foundation they need to advance in career or vocation after graduation. With this in mind, they provide a comprehensive curriculum, preparing students not only for exams such as the PSSA and Keystone, but also for those they will take later on to help them get into college and beyond such as SAT and ACT. Students are encouraged to discover their interests during their time in the school district.

From elementary school, students are given a solid understanding of reading, writing and math. Armed with this foundation, students are ready to apply it in their other studies such as science, social studies, the arts, technology, etc. As students progress through school, they add to their knowledge in their academic studies as well as in other courses. By the time students reach high school they are also able to take advanced courses designed to prepare them for college as well as international languages, more specialized technology courses, and studio arts programs.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of a Healthy Breakfast for Students

It has long been observed that students who have a good breakfast in the morning are set to do better in school. Students who have eaten a good breakfast are ready to perform at their best in each of their morning classes. Breakfast is essential to providing the body with what it needs to get going each day. So what does a healthy breakfast consist of? You do not have to spend hours preparing a hardy meal. Make sure that your student eats whole grains in the breakfast which will remain in your students’ system, providing energy for a longer period of time than non-whole grains. Also make sure there is a good protein, which could be yogurt, milk, egg, or fish, as well as a fruit or vegetable which will provide sugars as well as vitamins that your student will greatly benefit from. Happy learning!
