The Lafayette Parish School System has implemented the state approved Common Core Curriculum which provides educational standards in Mathematics and English and Language Arts. In English and Language Arts students are expected to learn how to read, write, speak and listen in English. The literacy standards set out in Common Core are also applied across all academic courses including technology courses. English skills include learning how to read for information and conduct research for use in writing assignments.
In Mathematics, students learn basic math subjects at an intensive level. These core math subjects include basic computation, algebra, geometry, statistics, proportional reasoning, and measurement. The focus in on students becoming math literate with the ability to take what they have learned and apply it to higher math and to work related problems. Math instruction includes learning how to solve math problems quickly, and apply learned math skills with confidence.

SchoolTutoring Academy Increased My SAT Score By 200 Points
My son’s math marks in high school have always been weak so I found it very beneficial that his ACT tutor worked on solidifying his fundamentals while prepping for the ACT.
SchoolTutoring Academy gave my daughter the confidence she needed to boost her SAT score Thank you!
SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Nashville Symphony Orchestra
A great way to get young kids interested in music is to introduce them to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra website SFKIDS.org. The website provides educational games where kids can discover music, listen to all kinds of music, play and compose music, and try their hand at conducting. With Symphony Hall kids get handed the baton and have the opportunity to see what it is like to keep an orchestra performing learning simple rhythms and what each hand does to keep the orchestra in harmony. Once students have gone through trying out right hand beat patterns and left hand volume gestures, they can try out conducting Stravinsky's Lullaby from Firebird, Ravel's Bolero, or Debussy's Festivals. If the conducting is in error, the online orchestra stops playing. In another educational game, students can learn the basics of composing in Music Mountain. In this game kids learn about musical notation, notes, tempos, musical signatures and orchestral sounds.
