Brownfield District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills is used for the duration of students education at Brownfield Independent School District. The curriculum prepares students to meet the challenges of college academics and professional life by establishing expectations that cover subject mastery as well as the ability to communicate effectively and work with others productively. The progression of the curriculum lays out expectations that elementary students master basic subject area skills and then move on to more analytic work that gives them a chance to think critically about what they are learning. This is compounded in high school where students learn about topics in much greater detail and depth.

Chalk Talk: Logical/Mathematical Intelligence

Among the various ways that children learn is the logical and mathematical intelligence method. Children that are strong in this area are able to look at problems or situations and solve them using a methodical approach. They, generally, have high reasoning ability and confidence. When confronted with a problem which they want to solve, these children are able to think of an algorithm that can be used to solve it. They are able to abstract and model information to draw conclusions. If they do not have one at hand, they are able to try various ways to work it out. They are able to explore, conjecture and reason logically and they can communicate to others using mathematical or logic skills.
