Chalk Talk: How to Apply Effectively for Scholarships
There are many scholarships available. Just go to Fastweb.com and you will never finish your list of scholarships. Applying for the most helpful ones can save you much time and frustration in the long run. Don’t decide on the best scholarships based on ease of application, either. Take the time to look through scholarship applications and see which ones fit you to a T. These are the best. Also look for more local scholarships. Elk’s clubs, large companies and other organizations and social groups often provide scholarships in the local community. Find out about these either by doing your own research or asking your guidance counselor. Colleges often have a list of scholarships as well. Do your research and find out how you can apply for these. Finally, when applying, take the time to write an essay that addresses specifically what they ask. It is usually best to personalize applications to the specific scholarship applied for so that the scholarship committee can see why you, specifically, should receive that money.
