Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Cathedral City District Curriculum

In Math, students are instructed in numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year. Students deepen their knowledge and expand their problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills. In English/Language Arts, the subject is organized around reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. These areas helps to develop critical thinking, interpretative and analytic skills in students. The skills and knowledge provided in the core curriculum teach a range of ways of thinking which prepare students for the future.

In specialized programs like Technology-oriented or Environmentally-oriented Programs, and in the small school models, the curriculum lays out the expectations for learning and explains how other learning areas will be covered within the courses as well as their hands-on applications.
