Cave Creek District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

Cave Creek schools follow the statewide standards designed as a part of Arizona’s College and Career Ready program. The curriculum is followed by Arizona schools in an effort to provide students with the skills they will need upon graduation. There are standards in place that help teachers hit all targets for learning and also be able to identify individual students’ strengths and weaknesses. This ensures that all students are able to meet all standards within the curriculum.

We currently cover the following Cave Creek-area school district: Cave Creek Unified School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Cave Creek District Curriculum

In the English/Language Arts program, students begin by learning the basics of letter recognition and sounds, as well as listening, comprehension and writing skills. As students progress through grades, new and increasingly complex skills are built upon previously learned skills. Comprehension and critical thinking skills are coupled with learning varied writing techniques, including persuasive and narrative writing. These skills are necessary in developing literacy skills in all classes and provide students with skills needed in college and careers.

Math starts with the recognition of numbers and counting, as well as shape recognition, sorting and grouping of shapes into correct places. Students learn conceptualization and value placement as well as critical thinking in the reorganization of higher level problems to find solutions. All of the complex skills learned in math are taught rigorously to prepare students for competition in the global career market after graduation.

Chalk Talk: Helping Your Child With Homework

Your child will sometimes have projects for school that require them to make something. If there is a leaf collecting project for science, take your child to a park or a forest trail so that they can find a variety of leaves. If they have to make a diorama of a desert scene, help them research the desert. Even better, if you leave near a desert area, take a trip there and let your child take pictures that will help them make their diorama more lifelike. The whole point is to show enthusiasm for the assignment, no matter what it is. This will help your child be more enthusiastic and feel more confident about doing a good job. Be there and stay involved to help your child succeed.
