Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Cherry Hill District Curriculum
In Language Arts, students begin with an exposure to a variety of written material, such as poems, drama and prose and are encouraged to interact with the literature in a meaningful way through discussion and written expression. In middle school, students learn to analyze texts, read for information, and to strengthen writing skills. Students in the high school explore a variety of genres and use the Internet to work on individual and collaborative projects.
Mathematics in Cherry Hill are also aligned to the Common Core State Standards. On the elementary level, students develop an understanding of base ten and also learn basic operations, fractions, measurement and geometry. In middle school, students extend their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as fractions and decimals, linear equations and geometry. Students in the high school study algebra, geometry, pre-calculus and calculus and can take some of these courses for Advanced Placement credit.

Keeping Informed: Recent Cherry Hill Educational News
- Energy Savings Plan - The Cherry Hill Board of Education approved an $8.5 million Energy Savings Plan. The plan is expected to produce a 14.5% savings annually which can be used to support other improvements to the schools.
- School Day Lengthened - The Board of Education of Cherry Hill ratified a new teachers’ contract which will lengthen the instructional school day on the secondary level by 30 minutes. Elementary school teachers will have their work day extended by 30 minutes.
- High Performing District - The New Jersey Department of Education has named Cherry Hill School District a “high performing” school district through the Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) district performance review. In order to be a high performing school district, a district must score 80% or above in the weighted indicators in each of the five areas of the QSAC review process.
