Cloverdale District and Curriculum
The curriculum which guides the instructional process in Cloverdale’s schools are the Common Core and the California Content Standards. These are framework which have been developed collaboratively between educators and professionals within diverse industries with the goal of providing a thorough educational foundation which encompasses the types of skills that are required in the professional workforce.
To that end, the curriculum is designed as a subject-specific guide to what skills students need to learn each year within each subject. In Language Arts, students will develop new skills each year in reading and decoding, language development, writing for many purposes and with attention to the craft of writing, and other communication skills. By high school, students will be able to take many literature or communications courses in which they will be expected to use their analytic skills and be required to write extensively.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Cloverdale District Curriculum
In Math, the goal is to develop the breadth of problem-solving skills that come from the basic topics of numerical operations, geometry, probability, and then to hone and deepen these skills in more focused high school coursework. In high school, students will have full-semester or full-year classes in Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, and Calculus. In Science, students similarly receive a broad base in the processes of inquiry into areas like Life Science, Biology, and Earth Science. Once in high school, students have a number of programs available in the sciences such as in Engineering and Environmental Science.
The academic offerings at the high school level are increasing and specializing to keep pace with changes in the world. Programs have been created that aim to suit the interests of individual students and provide them with a small community in which to pursue these goals.

- Information Services Pathway - The Information Services Pathway is available to high school students at Cloverdale as an option for a specialized focus in their coursework. This program has been developed in collaboration with local industry leaders who have also had a chance to provide input into the content of the courses so that they best prepare students for careers in the field of Information Services. Students who graduate from this program often find employment with the local industry partners.
- Media & Communications Pathway - An option for high school students in Cloverdale is to pursue the Media & Communications Pathway offered through the ROP Department. This program is designed to prepare students for a career with many community partners that are working with the County towards the goal of teaching students skills and content they will be able to use in the workforce. Classes offered include Web Design, Graphic and Animation Software, Website Management, Video Techniques, and many others which teach valuable skills.
- CARE Program - The Cloverdale Adds Resources to Education (CARE) Program is a parent-run organization with a mission to support the goals of classroom teachers in their initiatves for creating learning opportunities for their students. The projects supported are designed to provide memorable learning experiences for current students. In past years, funds have gone towards technology enhancements, field trips, arts and music education, and countless other important enrichment opportunities.
