In algebra, students learn to use operations and functions to find solutions. In geometry, students work through arguments and proofs to find a reasonable answer. The data analysis strand requires that students be familiar with different statistical methods and be able to create models for mathematical outcomes based on their knowledge of quantitative data. Chalk Talk: Building an Interest in Science
Science is a subject that is easily explored and easily ignored. To help a child see the importance of science, parents only need to ask the child to observe a family pet to see how they adapt to their environment and how they differ from wolves or coyote. Parents can also ask a child to help them as they cook. Many recipes involve the mixing of ingredients to make a totally different item. Talk to the child about how this is a form of chemistry. By bringing science into the home or by making a family activity, the child can see how science is all around them and all they need to do is have fun!
