Chalk Talk: How to Get Your Child Involved in Community Activities
Part of being a good citizen is helping others, and you can help your child become more community-minded. First, you must lead by example. Let your child see you helping others, and he or she will quickly follow. Stay informed about community projects within the school district and get the entire family to help with them. Research volunteer opportunities that suit your child’s interest. If she likes animals, let her volunteer at a pet shelter. If he likes to cook, let him participate in a bake sale. Helping others is a great way to spend time together and prepare your child to be a good citizen.
