Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Covina District Curriculum
The curriculum lays out a broad framework for the subjects; in Language Arts students develop critical thinking and communication skills. The framework for math education covers many topics including number operations, algebra, geometry, statistics and probability. The layout for science education is to introduce students to skills and principles of earth and environmental science, biology, chemistry and physics. Skills in technology are also developed so that students are proficient with using current technologies.
For students who enter a small learning community or other enrichment program, there is a curriculum that details the goals and how additional content will be infused into the daily learning. These are prepared so that students are able to take on advanced coursework and engage in experiential learning in these areas.

- School within a School - The School within a School initiative is geared towards 9th and 10th graders to help ease their transition to high school and prepare them to take on a challenging course load during their junior and senior years.

- Renaissance Program - The Renaissance Program is offered at district area middle schools as an organization that recognizes and promotes student achievement. Through school-wide opportunities for engagement, the program seeks to instill an atmosphere of high expectations for all students.
