Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Coweta District Curriculum
In English Language Arts, the teachers instruct the students in the area of oral language. Written presentations, speeches, debates, discussions in the classroom and with peers enable the student to become more confident about speaking in public. Technology is also integrated into oral language, as the students are able to use power point presentations, Smartboards, and other means to complement their public speaking.
In mathematics instruction, the students are taught to recognize the many connections that can be made between the concepts. Relating concrete objects or pictures to the actual problem or mathematical strand, such as the use of cubes of different colors to represent equations, looking at a picture graph to assimilate knowledge and draw conclusions, use sounds to depict patterning, and using real world objects to show how fractions work. Teaching the various connections in math will also help the students gain a better foundation and understanding and prepare them for the more difficult math courses.

- Coweta Education Foundation - The Education Foundation of Coweta is a non-profit organization. The mission of this foundation is to help fund and provide the youth of Cowetta with a wide variety of opportunities that are positive for all, while celebrating the love and recognizing the need for education. This Education Foundation has had many successful events and fund raisers, such as talent shows, auctions, golf tournaments, and other festivities. Over $75.000. has been raised to invest in the future of Coweta since 2003.
- Project Graduation - A very important group of the high school of Coweta is Project Graduation. This is a partnership that lies between Coweta and the seniors of Coweta High. The seniors are provided with a safe alternative to other all night graduation activities, as it has many exciting activities for the graduates. This year’s goal is to raise $40.00 per student for the after-ceremony event. Please contact the school for more information on how you can help this fun and safe night take place!
- Silent Auction - Coweta Masonic Lodge held an event for Coweta High School Project Graduation. This fish fry offered great food, along with a silent auction event. It was held in the spring at the Coweta High School Commons Area, and many parents, students, and community members came out to enjoy a fun-filled evening. They received many generous donations, as well! Thank you to all of the community members who came out to support Project Graduation!

Chalk Talk: Graduation Events
Many school systems have high school graduation events for after graduation. This is a very safe and fun alternative to the students going out after graduation on their own. Events after graduation usually include all night party filled with fun activities for the graduates. They are usually sponsored by groups, such as Project Graduation, the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, or other parent groups that want the graduates to have a fun, and more importantly, safe time!
