Coxsackie District and Curriculum
The Coxsackie-Athens Central School District (CACSD) serves school-aged children from the Town of Coxsackie. The CACSD has designs its curriculum to meet the requirements and goals of the New York State (NYS) Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS). Students in the CACSD receive a challenging core academic education. From kindergarten to grade twelve, students must gain skills and demonstrate developmentally appropriate learning in English language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. In addition to core academic subjects, students may also take courses in band, chorus, Spanish, French, family and consumer science, health, and technology.

Chalk Talk: Career Options in the Criminal Justice Field
Choosing a career that is best suited to your talents and interests is important; however, there are some jobs that are more serious than others and require a good match. If you meet the following qualities, you may make an outstanding police officer or detective: good, moral character; physically fit; committed and dedicated; self-motivated; and observant and sensible. Because being a police officer, and eventually a detective, can be so dangerous, it is important that you receive the proper training and education. Most police departments require a high school diploma, work experience, and a passing grade on an acceptance test. Some departments, including federal agencies, require a college degree. All officers must continue with training and professional development throughout their careers. Becoming an investigator or detective requires police experience, and usually people earn these titles through promotion. Other jobs in this occupational field include security guards, private detectives, game and wildlife officers, health inspectors, firefighters, customs and immigration officials, correctional officers, and building inspectors.
