Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Cranford District Curriculum

In order to prepare students for success their educational, career and life pursuits, the district has developed a challenging and comprehensive K-12 curriculum. The Common Core State Standards outline what students should learn and know in math and language arts classes. The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards govern student learning in all other subjects.

The technology curriculum in the schools has gained recognition for being among the best in the state. Students are immersed in a technology-rich environment in which they learn to utilize technology to foster their academic development and promote a desire for self-directed learning. This technology education begins in elementary school, where students acquire basic knowledge of technology, including how to utilize computers, tablets and the Internet to complete work, study and engage with other students. In middle school, students learn how to use various computer programs, including Microsoft Office, in order to create text-based and multimedia-based documents.

Keeping Informed: Recent Cranford Educational News

  • Cranford Students Win Anti-Drug Poster Contest - Six students from Lincoln School recently placed in the top three of their divisions in the Prevention Links Anti-Drug Poster Contest. The contest also emphasized how images and media can send positive messages.
  • Pathways to Inclusion Program a Success - Cranford High School students are giving back to the community through the Pathways to Inclusion Program. CHS students regularly meet with disabled children to play games, work on social skills and mentor the children.
  • Fundraising Efforts - A Cranford High School Freshman raised over $3,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. The goal was to raise awareness about juvenile arthritis and raised the funds by selling jewelry and hosting a fundraising party.
