Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Crawfordsville District Curriculum

Crawfordsville Community Schools follow a mathematics curriculum that summarizes the knowledge and skills that should be available to each student. The areas of K-8 mathematics focus on characteristics of numbers and equations, as well as geometrical relationships. In high school, students move on to more complex problems in the areas of algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and other math topics.

The goal of the social studies curriculum is prepare students to become responsible citizens able to make appropriate decisions. In kindergarten, students are invited to explore the differences and changes in their immediate environment. They slowly integrate this concept until they are ready to expand their awareness to their state, country, and the world. Although texts and other media are available to students, outside resources, such as field trips and community workers, are also used to develop proficiency in the subjects taught.

If there is a specific aspect of the job you’d like to learn about, make sure you write it down. Be realistic about these goals and what you think you can accomplish. Regular meetings with your supervisor can also help you meet your targets. When you first start your internship, make a strong impression. Dress appropriately, be punctual, have great attendance and carry out work responsibilities with as much professionalism as possible. You may receive some menial tasks but remember that many interns will be doing these as well.
