Chalk Talk: Getting Your Child Ready for the School Year

After a long summer break, it can be hard for your child to get back into the swing of things at school. In the weeks before school starts, it’s important to take a few steps toward getting your children back into school mode. This can include taking time out of the day for educational activities. Setting aside some time to read together for a few minutes is enough to get kids back into the habit of reading for school. To address the time changes that will occur, start to get your children out of bed earlier and earlier several weeks before the new school year. Moving up their bedtime and the time they get up in small increments over the course of a few weeks will help make the adjustment from summertime to school time that much easier.
