Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Dana Point District Curriculum
The framework in math provides for students to develop number sense and then approach the more advanced topics of algebra, geometry and data analysis. The goals of the science curriculum is to introduce the major subjects within science and also teach scientific thinking, principles found in nature, and emerging developments in technology. In the subject of Language Arts, the framework broadly lays out the literary and communication skills of reading, writing, and listening and speaking while providing a detailed overview of the strategies students will develop over the years.
Each of these content areas help students develop critical thinking skills like analysis developed through reading, mathematical reasoning gained in all areas of math, and process-oriented thinking developed through an exploration of the sciences.
