Chalk Talk: Making College Affordable

The expense of college education can be daunting to many parents. There are ways, however, that schooling can become more affordable. Community colleges are one way. These are schools which have smaller campuses which help to lower their expenses. These schools include smaller classes for the student to attend and they can earn basic educational credits which are often transferable to four-year colleges. Another way to lessen the expenses is to help the child establish residency if the college they are interested in is out-of-state. Gap years are also popular ways to help students earn money before they begin their college education. Many who take a gap year are often more mature and prepared to shoulder the responsibility of a college education when the time comes. Parents can also talk to other parents or guidance counselors for further idea.
