Chalk Talk: Character Education

Teaching our children about character traits such as honesty, integrity, and respect is important to developing their morals. Another way in which character education is used is to forward the goals of an initiatives such as the anti-bullying programs occurring around the country. Another common initiative is to honor students for their positive behaviors and reward students for exceptional examples of character. The goal of character education is to make our world a better place by encouraging students to be responsible, respectful, and gracious members of society. While there is no common set of standards to assess various character education programs, there is little resistance to including character education programs in our schools.
