Chalk Talk: Ways to Encourage Your Student

Students who receive positive encouragement often do very well in school and beyond. First, communicate with your student about things related to school. Listen to their concerns, and help them to find solutions to problems they might be facing. Ask them about their future goals, and then help them to see how high school can help them achieve those goals. When it is time to choose classes, encourage them to choose classes that interest them. Extracurricular activities can also be a great incentive to stay in school. In brief, build a relationship with your student and walk with him or her along the educational journey.
