Denville District and Curriculum

The Denville Township School District is responsible for the education of students in grades K-8 in Denville Township, New Jersey. The district’s two elementary schools and one middle school offer students learning opportunities that are engaging, challenging and empower them to succeed. The education they receive in the lower grades prepares them for study at the high school level. Students in grades 9-12 move to the Morris Hills Regional High School District, where they attend Morris Knolls High School. Students continue to receive a well-rounded education at Morris Knolls, that provides them with the essential knowledge and skills they need to find success in college, at work, in the armed forces, or whatever their post-secondary pursuits might be.

We currently cover the following Denville-area school districts: Denville Township School District and Morris Hills Regional High School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Denville District Curriculum

By focusing on learning opportunities that are relevant and allow students to apply their learning to real-life situations, the districts show students how to use what they learn. Aligning district curricula with the recommendations of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and the Common Core Standards ensures that students have the tools they need to excel in their future pursuits.

By aligning the math curriculum from the top down, the districts ensure that students who move from the lower grades to the higher grades have the requisite math understanding to be successful. The math curriculum focuses on developing practical skills – problem solving, critical thinking and analysis – that are used in math class as well as everyday life. An additional emphasis is placed on student understanding of mathematical concepts, as opposed to rote memorization. For example, when learning about congruence in geometry class, high school students must demonstrate knowledge of the concept of congruence, but must also demonstrate understanding of the concept.
