Chalk Talk: Importance of Written Communication Skills

Sometimes it is difficult for students to understand the importance of written communication skills, but they are essential whether one is going to college or starting a career. In college, students need to know how to take accurate notes and organize information. They also need to know how to write good academic papers and essays so that they can meet the expectations of college academics. In workplaces, there are reports, e-mails, and letters that require one to know how to write. Good written communication is how colleges select students and how employers select employees. And writing is one of those skills that is transferable. Even though you may never again write a persuasive paper, you have still built grammar and spelling skills that will help you write other types of communication. The might of the pen, pencil, or word processor is not to be underestimated!
