Chalk Talk: How to Help Your Child with Time Management
With so many demands from school coupled with extra-curricular activities and sports, it can be difficult for your child to balance and prioritize their time. As their parent, you can help them with this. Encourage activities that interest your child. Ask them what they most want to be involved in. Make sure they understand that they are free to do activities outside of school, but not at the expense of the time that they need for study, rest and free time. Help them to prioritize by listing the things they would like to do in order from most important to least important. Depending on the age of your child, this list may change order as they experience different things. Help your child with homework, but also help them out and encourage them in their other endeavors. If they need someone to throw them a ball to practice hitting do that. If they need help with a competition project, provide that. Also, keep your own priorities in balance so that your child learns from you.
