Educating Our Parents: Understanding the East York District Curriculum
With a strong foundation in reading, writing and numbers, students are then able to understand and learn material in other core subjects such as science and social studies. They also learn things such as art skills, music skills, physical education and safety as well as an emphasis on technology as it relates to students today. Students in elementary school therefore receive a diversified balance of education which well prepares them for middle and high school.
Middle and high school students have more options than those in elementary school. Older students are encouraged to explore various careers and vocations and offered courses and levels of courses which will best prepare them for these goals. Students in high school are offered several programs of study which will correlate with their future career or educational plans. These programs include Agricultural Sciences, Business, Finance, and Information Technology as well as Technology Education. There are other options as well.

Chalk Talk: How to be Prepared for College Life
For high school seniors college may seem like a dream, an adventure, or a nightmare waiting to come. But beyond the paperwork, the deadlines, acceptance letters and everything else involved with the process of getting into college, what are things you should know to be prepared for this new thing called college life? There are many helps and tips out there, so I will only talk about a few here. First of all, while you have all kinds of new freedoms you are not used to, use them rather than abusing them. Yes, you CAN sleep through class, but it is not wise. Instead, use this freedom to choose your schedule. If you know you can’t function before ten AM, don’t schedule a class before that time. Take some night classes instead. Second, be aware of the implications of debt. The more debt you have, the harder it will be for you after graduation. Look realistically at expected salary versus what your monthly payments will be.
