  • Los Lunas Renaissance Program - The Renaissance Program within the Los Lunas School District is part of a national initiative that provides tangible incentives such as awards, and specific rewards for both teachers and students. The program is geared toward encouraging academic excellence and improvement. To raise money for the program the district recently held a major fund raising event the Los Lunas Renaissance Bowling Tournament. Students, staff and members of the community participated in the team bowling benefit event with all proceeds going to the Los Lunas Schools Renaissance Program.
  • Essay & Poster Contest - All public schools in the Los Lunas School District recently participated in an essay and poster contest as part of the school’s Renaissance program. Called Joy of the Journey the contest involved all grade levels. Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade were asked to enter a poster in the contest illustrating what the Renaissance program meant to them. Students in grades 3rd through 12th wrote essays on the same subject. Prizes of iPad minis were given to first place winners while second place winners earned iPod nanos.
  • Student Nutrition Presentation - A presentation on school nutrition in the Los Lunas School District took place recently. The presentation included information on the number of meals provided to students throughout the year, the number of kitchen employees who have received certification from the School Nutrition Association, funding for school meals, and how much of the food is from local growers. In addition, the presentation provided menu planning requirements including a new emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables.
