Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Elizabethtown District Curriculum
Mathematics is covered comprehensively from Kindergarten through grade twelve. Beginning in kindergarten, students learn about numbers to get a firm grasp and understanding of what they are and how they are used. Tactile learning tools and other methods are used to help students better understand math material. Students start with this basic introduction and continue learning through the grade levels culminating into advanced math options, as well as Honors and AP classes in high school where students may progress through Calculus and Statistics.
Students start technology education courses in the first grade where they are introduced to computers and taught the basics of posture at a computer, keyboarding, how computers are used at home and in our world, skills in multimedia as well as a basic understanding of software and technology. From here, students build on their knowledge and skill all the way through high school where they are offered many specialized courses in different disciplines such as Architecture Design, Video Production, Manufacturing Technology, Digital 3D Animation, and much more.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of a Healthy Home Life for Students
When it comes to health and school, the two cannot be easily separated. The importance of healthy students is paramount. The role that home life serves in this pursuit is essential. School is helpful for promoting a healthy lifestyle, but that lifestyle must be enforced at home. Things such as a good night’s sleep, a health breakfast and dinner, and adequate social and family time are invaluable to a students’ learning experience. Students who are deficient in sleep are noted to do more poorly in class as it is more difficult for them to pay attention and retain information. The same can be said for students who lack healthy meals at home. Students who skip breakfast have much greater difficulty in performing to their full potential in the classroom. In contrast, students who have a healthy home life are much more likely to perform their best in the school environment as well.
