These standards have been adopted by all New Jersey public school districts, as well as districts in states across the nation. Chalk Talk: How to Improve Academic Success

If your child is struggling to maintain their grades or consistently performs poorly on exams, there are many simple strategies you can use to help them get back on track. When students’ grades fall, it might seem to them like an insurmountable mountain to climb. But helping them establish small goals can turn that mountain into easily attainable molehills. Goals might be established to hand all homework in on time for one week or to simply go in after school for help from their teacher. Accomplishing these smaller goals will give your child the confidence and momentum they need to keep going. Another strategy to employ is to help your child manage their time more productively. Setting aside a specific time for homework or studying will help your child establish a nightly routine that will increase their productivity. During their study time, ensure that there are minimal distractions – from you and from their friends – so they can maintain focus on their studies and retain more information. Doing so will help them improve their performance on exams and improve their overall academic achievement.
