Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Erlanger District Curriculum
In Mathematics, students are expected to learn the core concepts as the grades progress. Numbers are introduced in early years and then students learn to add, subtract, multiply, divide and use fractions. Algebra and geometry are introduced early and taught throughout the grades. Standards are set and your child is expected to meet them in a timely way. In Science, students are expected to use inquiry and evidence to learn about the world. Units of study are built on a standards base that students are expected to achieve. Environmental science is an important component of all the science programs.
In English/Language Arts, the disciplines of reading, writing, speaking, listening, inquiring, observing and communication using technology are stressed. In reading, the students are exposed to many types of text including fiction and non-fiction. Technology use is emphasized throughout the curriculum. Writing is particularly stressed and students are continually marked on their writing progress throughout the grades.

Chalk Talk: How to Preserve the Environment in Simple Ways
The environment is our resource and it is up to us to keep it for generations to come. As a student there are lots of things you can do to help. You may feel that one person cannot make a difference but you can. Just remembering to not litter and to clean up is useful. Everyone can find and do things that help preserve our environment. Look for opportunities to help. Every bit counts. Some schools have a cleanup day. You could suggest one for your school. Just keep on the lookout for how you can help.
