- Options Academy - Options Academy is an alternative high school developed to fulfill the need for increased options for student success. One component of this academic experience is cooperative learning in which students are connected with a work experience which they learn from. Credit is earned for work experience and, of course, students gain a leg up with their future plans.
- Wellness Program - The Wellness Program developed by the district is meant to help raise awareness for nutrition, physical activity and the positive benefits on students' academic success when they eat well and get out and play. This initiative is one that can extend into the community and community members can support the efforts at the schools.
- Parent Newsletter - Every parent can use a few tips, especially during the middle school years! Fairfield Preparatory High School has introduced a new, parent newsletter to keep parents informed of the happenings at the high school. This newsletter is online for everyone to read and it is written by students at the high school. Parent involvement and awareness is the key to student success.

Fairfield City School District has an alternative school for students who need this option. An alternative school is a school which differs from a traditional public school. It may serve a certain population of students, such as special education students (although many of them are mainstreamed in the traditional school) whose parents feel they can benefit from a different more student-centered classroom. Also, alternative education can serve students who have difficulty finding success in the public school, such as with behavior or other issues. Oftentimes, finding a smaller environment where students receive more individualized attention has been successful for students to succeed with their academics.
