Fairview Park District and Curriculum
Students in Fairview Park attend public school in the Fairview Park City Schools. With the motto “Learning to Believe and Achieve,” the district is committed to fostering a love of lifelong learning and instilling a desire to reach the highest levels of success in each and every student. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fairview Park District Curriculum
The Fairview Park curriculum includes the study of world languages. Students begin their study of another language in elementary school. At this level, students acquire basic skills such as counting to ten and naming common objects. Students also build their vocabulary, learning new phrases and common expressions as well. In middle school students focus on developing their conversational skills. This includes acquiring an understanding of intonation, tone, and gestures and how they influence the meaning of a message.
The math curriculum in Fairview Park includes the study of functions in high school. Students learn the concepts of functions as well as the appropriate function notation. Students also learn to interpret and analyze functions using multiple representations. Learners work on building functions as well. A comparison of various models is undertaken, including those of linear, quadratic, and exponential forms. A study of trigonometric functions is also part of the math curriculum.
