Youth sports provide a host of benefits for kids. Aside from the health benefits of exercising regularly, eating right, and maintaining a high level of fitness, sports also represent an opportunity for personal growth. Students learn how to set and achieve goals, and when goals are not met they develop a heightened ability to deal with adversity. Kids that play sports learn how to communicate more effectively and work as part of a team. They also acquire a greater sense of personal responsibility and learn to take ownership of their actions. Children who play sports exhibit higher self-esteem and greater feelings of self-worth that their peers as well. In the classroom, students who play sports tend to have better concentration and improved time-management skills.
