Fargo District and Curriculum
The Fargo Public Schools teach students at all grade levels a strategic core curriculum based on achievement in the following seven objectives: academic competency, self-reliance, essential life skills, community service, communication skills, sound character, and experience in the arts. This curriculum is administered through completion of a set of standards established by the Fargo community, and students are evaluated through completed coursework, class projects, service activities, responses to the annual Perception Survey, and standardized testing in academic subjects.
We currently cover the following Fargo-area school districts: Fargo Public Schools.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fargo District Curriculum
The Fargo school system has established a rigorous Language Arts and Reading curriculum focused on producing
exceptional communication skills through both oral and written expressions. Students are introduced to the reading
and writing process early to establish comprehensive skills in the use of language principles. Students’ mastery of
writing basics promotes additional abilities such as editing and drafting while efficient speech skills encourage
students to engage in oral presentations and become discussion leaders.
The Mathematics curriculum is focused on understanding numerical operations, developing a spatial sense through geometry, establishing skills in statistical data analysis and probability, utilizing systems and tools of measurement (such as the metric system), and recognition of numeric patterns. A student’s mastery of these skills will provide the mathematical reasoning and communication abilities that are necessary to tackle important problem solving strategies.
