Firebaugh District and Curriculum
The districts in Firebaugh follow an objective and standards-driven curriculum, the California Content and the Common Core Standards. These have been developed by looking at best practices nationally and internationally, ways to develop and frame the expectations for learning at each grade, and what it is that students need to be able to do in college and as professionals.
Math and Language Arts fall under the Common Core Standards as they are foundational subjects. Math uses the topics of numbers and quantities, algebra, functions, modeling, geometry, statistics and probability as a general framework where students learn basic skills that prepare them for the more advanced topics of complex numbers, vector and matrix quantities, equations and inequalities and many other areas.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Firebaugh District Curriculum
In Language Arts, reading and writing are emphasized but listening and speaking are also elements to the curriculum expectations. Students read literature and non-fiction, write about it and discuss it. These habits of reading and discussion help to raise the critical thinking, which is an intended outcome for the curriculum. Language development and the conventions of usage are also expected to be learned.
Science is organized around the development of a base of knowledge in Biology, Life and Earth Sciences, Chemistry and Physics. The process of scientific inquiry and the processes of formulating and testing hypotheses are also goals of the Science curriculum. Students are given many chances for hands-on learning and are exposed to a variety of specialized scientific topics in high school. Technology is a part of the curriculum in Science, but also as a part of the entire framework for learning. The technology emphasis is continuing to increase and students are expected to have a variety of opportunities to use, study, and innovate with technology.

- Extracurriculars at Dos Palos HS - Extracurriculars provide a view into what is important and relevant to the younger generation. At Dos Palos High School, the students have organized their own self-governing body, academic clubs like AVID and Club Ed, career-oriented organizations like Mock Trial and FFA, as well as groups to support the school community.
- BSU/Multicultural Club - The BSU/Multicultural Club is a strong presence at the high school in terms of their outreach in the goal of promoting activities for cross-cultural awareness. They support a number of activities throughout the year and help connect member students with opportunities for learning, internships and other avenues toward success.
- California Scholarship Federation - The CSF is a tradition within California's schools that promotes high academic achievement with an eye towards college. Students who join CSF are expected to maintain a high Grade Point Average and take on a more rigorous courseload during high school. For earlier grades, there is a Junior CSF Organization that prepares students for these expectations at high school.
