Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fort Collins District Curriculum

The Science curriculum for grades K-5 is focused on teaching students the key concepts of life, earth, and physical science through initiating student curiosity and inquiry. The curriculum for grades 6-12 is then built upon a flexible model containing a diverse series of classes to enable students to become educated in subjects that both excite and inspire them.

Students are provided instruction in core knowledge areas while accelerated pathways in AP and International Baccalaureate (IB) are also offered. Students can chose from advanced subjects such as geospace science, botany, and anatomy. Education in these subjects is balanced with fundamental classes in general chemistry, physical and life sciences to provide the foundation for problem solving and crucial scientific investigatory and processing skills.
