Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fortuna District Curriculum

The curriculum in Math provides for the acquisition of skills in all major topics like geometry and measurement, data analysis using probability or statistics, and algebraic operations. The Science curriculum broadly specifies standards in the principles and processes of science and details the topics of biology, chemistry, physics, earth and environment sciences.

In Language Arts, students develop an understanding of reading for pleasure and for learning, writing for specific purposes and audiences, and other critical communication skills. For specialized programs and career-focused elective courses, the curriculum explains the learning objectives and the steps that will be taken to achieve understanding. These are prepared so that students gain skills and are challenged to work with innovative ideas.
