Frankfort District and Curriculum

The districts believe in providing quality instruction in a secure educational and social environment in which all students develop a culture of respect, not only for themselves and others, but for learning, itself, and for their environment. Students are prepared for their futures by learning to be knowledgeable people, critical thinkers, effective communicators, collaborative workers, and responsible individuals. Students are taught to understand and apply a core body of knowledge and skills across the curriculum and to take responsibility for their own learning.

We currently cover the following Frankfort-area school districts: Frankfort CCSD 157C, Lincoln Way CHSD 210, Peotone CUSD 207U and Summit Hill SD 161.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Frankfort District Curriculum

As collaborative workers, students are expected to treat themselves and others with respect while working within groups to achieve goals. As responsible individuals, students are expected to demonstrate ethical behavior, accept responsibility for their actions, and demonstrate positive choices for physical and emotional health. Students are also expected to participate in community service.

As critical thinkers, students learn to read for comprehension and synthesis while collecting and analyzing information. They use critical and analytical thinking to solve problems and are able to transfer this learned knowledge to life experiences. Students also learn to be effective communicators by observing attentively, speaking effectively, writing clearly, persuasively and expressively, and demonstrating good listening skills. Students are expected to demonstrate a commitment to establish, meet, and exceed their academic goals.

Chalk Talk: Rolling vs. Regular Decision

Of the many types of college applications, one stands out as benefiting both the student and the college. Most colleges don’t read applications until after the deadline has passed. This can mean that a student who has applied early might not get an answer for, sometimes, months. Rolling applications serve to fix this problem. With Rolling applications, colleges respond to applications immediately, usually making a decision as quickly as two or three weeks. Students aren’t compared to other students because there isn’t a backlog of other applications to sift through. Unlike Early Decision or Restricted Early Action, Rolling isn’t binding, and because of the quick turnaround time, students can have a decision before they’ve heard from any other college.
