Frankfort District and Curriculum
Frankfort schools follow the curriculum laid out by the Kentucky Department of Education. Technical education and the use of computers are integrated into all subjects in the schools in Frankfort especially into high school curriculum. Along with computer use, career education is provided so that students can be prepared for their lives after high school as well as possible.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Frankfort District Curriculum
Frankfort Schools follow the curriculum for the core subjects that the Kentucky Department of Education suggests. In Mathematics, expectations are laid out for all levels. For example, the levels expected for each skill are laid out in the curriculum documents grade by grade so that all 3rd graders, or all 6th graders are reaching the same standards. The skills involved represent the different abilities needed to master problem-solving in topics like geometry, measurement or data analysis.
In English and Language Arts, the Department sets the expectations so that students are able to all receive the same high quality of educational standards. These focus on the skills inherent to the subject such as reading strategies, understanding of the language and expectations for writing abilities. An additional curriculum resource document is called Kentucky Writing Resources and outlines items that students can use to increase their writing skills.

- 21st Century Educational Facilities - Second Street School has been newly renovated to include a media center and three network computer labs. There is also an emphasis on Fine Arts along with the regular curriculum which are enjoyed by the students at this school.
- SKYDRIVE - Technology is increasingly important for teaching, learning, communicating, and analyzing results in Frankfort Independent schools. Students can go to a website to learn how to access technology for their needs. Their personal file is called their SKYDRIVE and procedures are outlined for its use.
- My School Bucks - Meals can now be pre-paid on line in Frankfort Independent Schools. It’s called My School Bucks and parents can end worries about lunch money by paying into their account online. Reminders will also be sent when your account is low. No more lost or forgotten lunch money!

What you first write may seem creative, but you must always read your work later and then revise it so it is clear and concise and errors are eliminated. You will receive better marks if you do this. You will often find something phrased in a way that you can make better. Sometimes something else will come to mind that you can add to your work. Write what you want but remember that it will always be better when it is revised.
