The goal of Common Core is to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in college and in the work force. To achieve that goal, students are provided with reading material including both non-fiction and literature. Skills such as critical analysis of information and research are stressed in the ELA studies.

In ELA, students learn to read, write, speak and listen while being introduced to a progressively demanding reading and writing assignments. In Mathematics, students study core math subjects such as arithmetic, geometry, algebra, statistics, measurement and proportional reasoning. The intensive math study includes a focus on learning to applying math skills to everyday problems and to higher math.
