Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Gaffney District Curriculum
In Science, the focus is on teaching students the process of scientific discovery. Students learn how to test hypotheses and validate scientific information. They learn lab skills that eventually lead them to be able to design and report on their own experiments. They are also taught about technology and the way that it supports changes in our society; they also learn about how to work with technology in subjects like programming and graphic design.
Math students study the standards to a greater depth than in the past. Students master each concept with superior understanding leading to high retention. In English Language Arts classes, students synthesize both non-fiction and literature. They practice reading and writing skills that transfer into other content areas, such as science and social studies, and to the real world. They are also asked to write responses to their various readings to develop the skills of academic writing.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!

Chalk Talk: Socialization
Socialization is an important part of a child’s school day, and is vital to his or her personal development. Having friends and the ability to get along well with others will help your child to be successful in the real world. Listening to your son or daughter talk about their concerns and relationships at school can help gauge your child’s ability to socialize with others. Social issues can also impact learning, so if your child is having a problem with another child it is best to deal with it immediately. If you have apprehensions about this, you should speak with your child’s teacher to see if they notice improper socialization as well.
