Chalk Talk: Relieving Stress in School

In a curriculum where the objective is to teach and for students to learn, not everyone learns at the same pace or mode. Further, students are facing more complex problems today than before with competing pressures, bombardment of technology, and peer relationships. Many social problems are increasing in society without any concrete measures to resolve these issues. Students need to turn to guidance counselors but also parents to talk about the pressures of being in school and competing for good grades, dealing with peer pressure, and other concerns. Many students face trying to live up to parents' expectations of completing a degree while forgetting to listen to their inner voice, their desires and their dreams. Parents need to help children to find outlets for releasing stress but also spend an hour a day talking to them at the dinner table or before bedtime.
