Jefferson County Schools has a large span of science electives to choose from. The core classes of science that go from grades K-8 are very structured and follow the Standards of Learning in Alabama. The science courses in grades 9-12 become more elective-based, and still must adhere to the State Standards; however the students choose what they want to take, depending on their interests and college preparatory goals. Some of the courses offered in Jefferson County Schools are Earth and Space, Environmental, Genetics, Marine Biology, Physics, Zoology, and many more. Jefferson County Schools is accredited and has highly-qualified instructors to give the students the best education possible and to prepare them for college, or any other future the student desires.

Chalk Talk: The Role of an Education Foundation

The Jefferson County Foundation has several goals for the school system. Many foundations that help school systems have objectives and adhere to these objectives in order to communicate to everyone involved. Foundation goals include building effective community partnerships, business relationships, increase awareness of school system needs, showcase opportunities and achievements, and award outstanding educators. These goals are very similar to many school systems' foundational goals, and they are developed solely to make the school system the best it can be!
